font issues with GTK2 programs
 

Hey guys,

I use Slack 9 with Dropline Gnome 2.4 (I just upgraded last night). My fonts (especially international characters) display as boxes with hex numbers. This happens in all GTK2 programs but GTK1 programs display the characters fine. I know this is a font problem, but I haven't a clue how to fix it. (I mentioned this before on a thread, but I have learned more about the problem and can ask more specific questions.)

I tried editing /etc/fonts/fonts.conf (and reran fc-cache and fc-list) and also my XF86Config file (and restarted X). Like I said I upgraded Dropline Gnome last night and this didn't help the issue. I've Googled for hours and read the forums and I can't find anything. :study: Can anyone help?
