flac plugin for xmms (Slamd64)
I run Slamd64, which is based on Slack 10.1, on my laptop. I'm trying to play some files I've encoded with FLAC, but I can't seem to make xmms load the flac plugin.
I've tried re-installing the flac-1.1.2-x86_64-1 package and compiling flac from the latest source, both with no effect. I can't seem to find another source for the flac plugin or find how to force xmms to recognize the plugin I built. Any ideas? |
from the Slackware current changelog:
Tue Jun 14 18:40:39 PDT 2005 ap/flac-1.1.2-i486-2.tgz: Patched the XMMS plugin. (thanks to Wim Speekenbrink for the patch) There obviously was an issue & a fix. I'm afraid I have no knowledge of Slamd64 but perhaps this will put you on the right path to a solution. Perhaps get the source from the Slack site, if it has a patch that solves your problem & recompile for your architecture? Hope this helps Guy |
I use Slamd64, too. I remember during RC2 xmms had a few plugin problems. Just as a test, I pulled the plugin I wanted out of an RPM from a SuSE 9.2 mirror (x86_64) and emptied it into (if I recall correctly): /usr/lib64/xmms
It worked fine! It's not a decent solution for developers and distro releases, but it's functional for end-users who are more bothered about listening to music than intepreting error messages ;) Obviously in the long term, there may be some other problem here that we're not seeing - but give it a go, and perhaps paste in your configure options for XMMS (Slamd64 package, or custom compiled?) and the Flac plugin. Good luck, - Piete. |
