looks like a javascript related crash..
did you maybe try the latest firefox (aka non esr)? just for testing of course!
if you google for "js::GCThingTraceKind" you find a bugreport in the mozilla bugzilla for linux x86 an a statistic by mozilla.
maybe open a bugreport so mozilla knows 64bit has the problem too?

I use a 64bits Linux.
Maybe a javascript problem, indeed. I'm testing with NoScript extension, we'll see. I used many versions of Firefox, packages or tarballs, from 17.0 o 26.0: issue still here.
I also test Iceweasel, and it crashed few seconds after the launch.

I just upgraded a laptop from 14.0 to 14.1 and am having this same problem. I get the glib-critical error message followed by segmentation fault in firefox and thunderbird. Has anyone found a solution yet?

I have this warning however it doesn't crash my Firefox, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=833117, links of bug reports, you might try recompiling libgobject and libxul libraries to see if it can solve the crash problem.

From you post looks like you are on an older version of firefox, see Slackware 14.1 x64 change log.
You can also see slackdocs on installing patches and maybe 24.3 will be better

Hi,
You could try Ruari Oedegaard script to get the latest Firefox packaged for Slackware: www.panix.com/~ruari/latest-firefox
Quote:
# latest-firefox Version 1.0RC9
# This script will find the latest Firefox binary package, download it
# and repackage it into Slackware format.
# I don't use Firefox for regular browsing but it is handy for
# comparative tests against Opera. :P

Hope this helps!

Thanks to all who replied. I fixed my problem by updating my fglrx driver.
Cheers,

It would seem that most of those experiencing problems have updated from 14.0 to 14.1
To OP - have you tried a completely new install of 14.1?
