Firefox not loading walmart.ca
It looks like it's not a Slackware problem but I'm posting here anyway in hopes that someone ran into a similar problem and because Mozilla support forums are mostly unhelpful.
As the subject says, Firefox will not load walmart.ca on my Slack but also my Windows 7 machine.
Using Firefox 24.8 and 31.1 esr and tried with all addons and plugins disabled too.
Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 7 loads walmart.ca fine and so does Chromium on the Slack machine.
This eliminates network equipment as the culprit and OS type and version too.

No issue here using Firefox 24.8.0 on Slackware 14.1 to access http://www.walmart.ca/en and http://www.walmart.ca/fr
For your information:
Code:
~$ host www.walmart.ca
www.walmart.ca is an alias for www.walmart.ca.edgekey.net.
www.walmart.ca.edgekey.net is an alias for e6712.b.akamaiedge.net.
e6712.b.akamaiedge.net has address 23.201.213.30
~$ curl ipinfo.io/23.201.213.30
{
"ip": "23.201.213.30",
"hostname": "a23-201-213-30.deploy.static.akamaitechnologies.com",
"city": "Cambridge",
"region": "Massachusetts",
"country": "US",
"loc": "42.3626,-71.0843",
"org": "AS20940 Akamai International B.V.",
"postal": "02142"
}~

Ok, thanks for the help guys.
I will test with a new Firefox profile and see if it might be something in my profile but walmart.ca is the only site that does that.
The attached screenshot shows where the page hangs.

I can confirm this, the page just keeps loading.
However, with a new Firefox profile, everything works fine.
So it's probably a setting or add-on that causes this problem.

lodes here in Detroit
"walmart.ca"
Using seamonkey 2.26
and Firefox 32.0.2
Now i am also using Google DNS ( 8.8.8.8 , 8.8.4.4 )
normally i would NOT use the country code replacing the .com or .net
except for using the computers at the Grad Library at U of M in Ann Arbor
( google.ja ) gets outside

Good to know.
Which Firefox are you using?
It's not an add-on since I've tried in safe mode.
It must be something else.

I also for some time known similar quirks in Firefox. I use it a lot in the workplace where there is a proxy that filters the internet, and by setting it up with the proper credentials surf without problems and I can see any site (all those who let the filter proxy), I also see http://www.walmart.ca. The problem arises for an internal intranet site that requires credentials for access. For this site I have configured Firefox to not use the proxy. Access to this site has worked up to version 29.0.1, for all subsequent nothing to do (including the latest 32.0.3 that I tried today), either by Slackware packages, or by creating packages with Ruario script. In practice it appears the server error page that says that I have provided the wrong credentials without having even typed! Instead, everything is fine using Seamonkey or Chromium.

I'm using the standard Firefox 24.8 ESR from the Slackware repository.
It's not necessarily true that running FF in safe mode disables all settings that where altered by add-ons!
So it's quite well possible that even in safe mode some settings stay the way they were changed by some add-ons.
If you use Help --> Restart Firefox with disabled add-ons you can choose between safe mode and Reset Firefox. If you choose the latter, all settings will be the default ones. Maybe that's something you can try.
Perhaps good to know that if you do so, you will have to reinstall all your add-ons!

I'm running FF ESR 24.8.0 on Slackware 14.1 and walmart.ca does not load for me on FF, but does just fine on Seamonkey. No idea why. Since I don't shop there, not too concerned. Tried FF with disabled add ons, still doesn't load correctly. I get two spinning wheels.
