Firefox 52.5.1esr vanished
 

Hello,

Running the stable Slackware branch, I use to localize firefox by downloading & packaging the langpack of each new release. So I try to do with the 52.5.1esr lately upgraded, but impossible to get the files from the mozilla repository, where this release is just unknown.

Moreover https://download.mozilla.org/?produc...fox-esr-latest is still pointing on 52.5.0. As other peoples nevertheless seem to have seen the 52.5.1, I don't what Slackware should ship. In the doubt I moved back to 52.5.0.

Ver 52.5.0 is the current release for the ESR version, with 52.5.1 still being a 'Candidate' version that users have to intentionally install on their own:

Then it shouldn't be in the stable Slackware yet... I don't know what's happened, someone from Mozilla probably messed.

I am happy to have been late to update FF for Slint this time. Sometimes being lazy pays off. :D

I grabbed it during the window that it was "released". There weren't any release notes for it online that I could find, though for Mozilla things this is not unusual. Sometimes release notes or security advisories appear days after a release. I read the diff between it and the previous version before deciding to compile and merge it, and everything looked reasonable.

There's probably no reason to revert stable, unless Mozilla says that there is or anyone is experiencing new problems. It seems fine here.

More info there. The problem comes from the Content Delivery Network thing. Officially it's like in Apocalypse Now: "This release doesn't exist, has never existed, and will never exist" (but for your sins, you got it :D).

Yeah, I wouldn't have noticed this myself, if I didn't package the langpack in the AlienBob fashion. It's IHMO the only "long-term" issue with this "release", people have to pick localization stuff in the candidate directory (people having to get more seriously in trouble are already in, then as long as they don't shout, indeed...)
