Firefox 40.0.3: Does not respect default file-browser (pcmanfm)

Hi,

I have some problem to use my default file-browser pcmanfm. pcmanfm works in Chromium/Chrome/Pale Moon e.t.c. Even Mozilla Thunderbird opens pcmanfm.

Except Firefox, which still refuses to open pcmanfm but opens dolphin instead.

My system is Slackware current 64-bit multilib. I also use Alienbobs KDE5-packages but using Fluxbox as my WM.

This is my ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list: http://pastebin.com/V14RTfyU
and ~/.local/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache: http://pastebin.com/AT72902y
and ~/.local/share/applications/default.list: http://pastebin.com/5pszS12m
And the system-wide /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache: http://pastebin.com/3Upi8uKg

To check if pcmanfm.desktop is default I verified by xdg-mime query default inode/directory. I also set pcmanfm default in exo-preferred-applications.

I'm pretty much stuck, why it is so cumbersome to change the default file-browser in Firefox which seems to be in love with dolphin?

docs.slackware.com/howtos:software:firefox_annoyances

As a test, try changing this line (The inode/directory= line) in /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
From
Code:
inode/directory=kde4-cervisia.desktop;kde4-kfmclient_dir.desktop;org.kde.filelight.desktop;Thunar-folder-handler.desktop;org.kde.gwenview.desktop;audacious.desktop;org.kde.dolphin.desktop;pcmanfm.desktop;
to
Code:
inode/directory=pcmanfm.desktop;

Hi,

Yes, I did change that but with no effect...

I also removed ~/.mozilla directory to reset everything, but still no effect.

Ouch. Perhaps test to see if it's a local ~/<somewhere> config, or a global config by making a shiny new user, log in as them, and see if it respects the global mimeinfo.cache and opens up pcmanfm or dolphin.

If you
Code:
xdg-open .
(with the space and period) from a term window - does that open the right app?

xdg-open . opens pcmanfm. Even as a newly created user, Firefox still opens Dolphin! xdg-open . as the new user opens however pcmanfm.

I think some evil ghost is implemented in my Firefox... This is just insane.

I removed AlienBOB's KDE5-packages and that solved the issue. I think I'm going back to stable (14.1), current is too much of a hassle for me now.
