Firefox 1.5.0.3 buggy?
Since upgrading to Firefox 1.5.0.3, I've noticed that this version is prone to stumbling and falling over completely, much more so than 1.5.0.2.
I should say that I use the EN-GB version direct from Mozilla rather than the official tgz due to localization. My kernel is 2.6.13 from testing, otherwise stable patched.
Anyone else seeing Mozilla's crash reporter a lot more than they care to?

Same here. I'm running -current with custom 2.6.16.14 kernel. I installed Firefox using the official Slackware package. 1.5.0.2 was OK but 1.5.0.3 crashes a lot (sometimes I work on a different workspace and when I come back I find the crash report window. Really weird). I use the same plugins I had before.

Interesting indeed. I wonder if Patrick is aware of this? FF 1.5.0.3 is included with the upcoming Slack 11.0.
I'm really looking forward to the next release.

I'm running Firefox 1.5.0.3 on an outdated Slackware system and a freshly built 2.6.16.15 kernel and it's been solid as a rock.
Maybe it's those porn sites you're visiting that are giving you grief.
Peace...

I've been running 1.5.0.3 on both my 10.0(official) and my 10.2(dropline) machines without any crashes at all. Probably an extension/plugin problem.

I didn't know that LQ Slack forum was a porn site (these hackers... what a taste...) .
Really, I find it weird because I use the same extensions, same plugins, I visit the same sites, everything is the same as before, but I get crashes. The prime suspect is (naturally) the mplayerplug-in but in some of those cases that plugin wasn't used at all. Maybe I'm overlooking something, hmm... At least it's good to know that everything is OK for most people...

You could try firefox starting a new profile, simply move ~/.mozilla to .mozilla.old and it will start again, maybe the new version doesn't like some old config, you never now
(Another alternative is to try the browser with another user account).

I am using FF 1.5.0.3 and it seems like it crashes a lot. I just assume its certain ads on pages.

Yes but there can't have been such a major change from 1.5.0.2 to 1.5.0.3. 1.5.0.2 was working fine.

I don't class the BBC, eBay and LQ as porn.
Since reading some of the suggestions on this thread, thanks again to gbonvehi for the usual wise suggestions, my first thought was to go back to 1.5.0.2. This of course is not sensible given the security fixes in 1.5.0.3 and the fact that this version now auto-updates.
On following gbonvehi's suggestion; I created a new user, performed a clean install of 1.5.0.3 EN-GB, imported my bookmarks did not add any extensions or themes and began browsing. After a half hour or so, no crashes had occurred, so it's probably an extension conflict.
So now follows a hunt for the rogue extension. This reminds me of debugging start up problems in Mac OS 7,8, & 9!

As a matter of interest, as Firefox 1.5.0.4 release is due very soon, how do you know that version 1.5.0.3 will be in Slackware 11.0?.

Hi,
I'm a complete slack addict and have been waiting for 11.0 for quite awhile it seems.
I read on the slack intel changelog that Patrick upgraded FF to 1.5.0.3.
That may of course just be for slackware current, but, the intel changelog is now titled pre-release:-)
I can't wait for 11.0.
