I am new to slackware but used debian & fedora before.

I have a few questions regarding slackware and i hope someone could help me with it.

1. Debian has apt-get, Fedora has yum. What is slackware's command to update/upgrade/install from console?

2. I dont have a wheelmouse, even i edited the conf it is not working. Any suggestions?

3. Is there some kind of sources list for slackware? if yes, where?

4. Can i convert a ntfs partition to linux?, and how?

Thats about it, sorry for my bad english. BTW, i am on slackware 10.2

I'm assuming you mean that you have a wheel-mouse but it doesn't work? Take a look here. By the way, I advise you go into terminal and do a 'cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf_backup' before in case the new one you create doesn't work - then you can delete the new and replace it with this backup. Then, once it's backed up, run 'xorgconfig' from the terminal and follow the instructions (I advise you read the old one first to get the correct monitor settings - like HSync and VRefresh ).

No - this isn't possible, as they use two completely different filesystems. Your best bet is to back up everything you need, and then put them back onto the hard drive once Linux is installed.

slackpkg is included in the Slackware Linux extra/ directory. Though I must add that most Slackware users do no really find using an update tool to be the Slack way (you be the judge). Since it is easily possible to keep track of security updates, it is often better, especiall on servers, to check updates yourself before blindly installing them. Another good way to track updates is to rsync them from a mirror, and then use upgradepkg. Some of the upgrade methods are described here:

That depends on the upgrade tool you use. I'd say write a simple script that uses rsync .

No. But you can make a new filesystem, and copy over the files.
