fetchmail output to terminal (Can it be turned off)?
I'm using slack 10.2, with dropline gnome.
I I periodically use fetchmail to download my email. The problem is that when new mail arrives, it spits the notification onto my terminals, regardless of which terminal I'm using. This is very distracting.
I should specify, I don't think the output is from fetchmai itself. I think there some mail utility running.
Does anyone know how/where to configure/disable this?
Thanks in advance.
Pablo

In your fetchmailrc configuration file, put the directive:
set logfile "/var/log/fetchmail.log"

If you don't want a separate log file, you can also use set syslog

Thanks for the suggestions. However, none of those options helped.
I believe there's another app running that's giving me the alerts, not fetchmail.
The output printed to all terminals looks like this:
Code:
New mail for user@host has arrived:
----
From: Doctor Dictionary <doctor@dictionary.com>
Subject: sang-froid: Dictionary.com Word of the Day
/-=-=-<advertisement>-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-\

Below is a list of my running processes. If anyone could point out whice one is outputting to all terminals, it would be Great!

That looks like the output from in.comsat. Have a look in /etc/inetd.conf or /etc.xinetd.conf and look for an entry for the comsat service (in.comsat is the program name) and comment it out. You'll have to restart inetd or xinetd for the changes to take effect.
