fdisk on SCSI drive

(Note: this is my first real time with Linux, so don't expect me to understand ANY jargon, thanks

I am trying to install Slackware 10.1 on my Maxtor 6 Y120MO SCSI hard drive. I also have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ on a K8 Triton GA-K8N Pro motherboard. However, whenever I try to fdisk or cfdisk the kernel doesn't see either /dev/sda or /dev/sdc (I don't have a slave drive, so b and d are out). Please tell me what to do, if I knew anything about anything (Linux/programming) I might be able to help myself, but sadly I can't.

Thanks in advance!

Which kernel did you select when starting the setup? You should select scsi.s or another one with support for you scsi disk.

yeah, I just did bare.i. I'll try scsi.s now and update you when I see what happens.

I tried to fdisk and cfdisk with scsi.s, but it kept on giving me FATAL ERROR or it couldn't load the drive. Guess that didn't work

Any other advice is welcome

Could it be a sata disk? I checked on the web and it seems so. Try the sata.i kernel, maybe you're lucky :P
By the way, to see which drives are detected you can use: fdisk -l
or use: dmesg | less
and look for it.
