Fdisk
 

got a friend that i'm trying to partition HD for SLACKWARE. 2HD one with windows, 2nd HD empty. During fdisk should i partition the 2nd HD as primary or logical considering that windows is partition as primary. this would be a dual boot system once i get an answer.

you can have up to 4 primary partitions on a HDD.
it will be alright to partition the the second drive as primary.

Remember also if you create 4 primary partitions, and you don't use up the remaining space on the drive, it will be unusable. If you want to create more than 4 partitions, create the 4th one as a logical so you can created the extended partitions, etc.
