Post Fatal error while launching Libreoffice 3.4 - load deploymentli.uno.so failed

Hi,

I have just joined this forum, as well as the Slackware community. I have started to install applications on my new fresh Slack-distro (slackware 13.37), and I wanted to install Libreoffice 3.4.
I downloaded the pkg from the Alien's mirror (http://taper.alienbase.nl/mirrors/pe...ice/pkg/13.37/) and after resolving some dependencies, I successfully installed LiO (that's what I thought).
However, at the first launch:
Quote:
>libreoffice
the program starts to load (i.e. splash screen and loading status bar), but after couple of seconds, a pop-up comes up with the following error message:
Quote:
The application cannot be started.
exception occured raising singleton "/singletons/com.sun.star.deployment.ExtensionManager": loading component library failed: file:///usr/lib/libreoffice/program/../basis-link/program/deploymentli.uno.so
I have checked the existence of the file
Quote:
>find / -name deploymentli.uno.so
/usr/lib/libreoffice/basis3.4/program/deploymentli.uno.so
so, it exists (basis-link is a symbolic link to basis3.4).
I ran the program as a regular user and as root.
I have been through many forums to check if a similar problem has been solved but I have found nothing (except moving to OOo, which I don't really want to). I might have miss some points but I can't figure them out.

My distro is currently running under fluxbox (I wanted a light environment) and a few programs have only been installed.

Thanks,

Yilong

Maybe check for shared library problems just in case :

ldd /usr/lib/libreoffice/basis3.4/program/deploymentli.uno.so

Oh, thank you very much that was the problem, libxlst was not found (it was actually not installed ).
I always face those problem with dependencies in Slackware which forces to download some missing libraries.
I can now launched libreoffice but I still have a kind of warning message (I say warning because it doesn't affect libreoffice running, at least for now). The message is
Quote:
/usr/bin/libreoffice: line 2: 2279 Segmentation fault /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice "$@"
I will see if it might cause any problem during the execution.

You know, you can avoid a lot of frustration if you simply do a full install of Slackware rather than trying to pick and choose; there is rarely anything missing when you add software and, if you're building packages from SlackBuilds.org http://slackbuilds.org/, any additional dependencies are spelled-out on the download page for you (and, of course, those packages are available at SlackBuilds.org). The SlackBuilds.org LibreOffice package does not require any additional software to install it. And, because Slackware is package-oriented, it's pretty easy to get rid of stuff after the fact if you really want to.

Slackware just doesn't require all that much disk space -- under 10G for a full-boat install -- and 10G is more or less "chump change" in this day of terabyte disk drives for a couple of hundred bucks.

It's up to you, of course, freedom of choice is what open source is all about after all, but avoiding a lot of screwing around is worth something too, eh?

Hope this helps some.
