Hi all. I've been getting this message w/ samba for some time, but then I hardly ever manage to get samba to work right 2 days in a row, so I didn't worry too much. Now I can't ssh into this computer, which was fine last week and I'm at a loss!!

Loading /etc/passwd failed!
Failed to open passdb!

I did a couple of searches on '/etc/passwd' & 'Loading /etc/passwd failed!', but got a list of threads that didn't seem to have anything to do w/ this problem. If someone can clue me in to what's going on (or not going on) I'd extravegantly appreciate it.

when you added teh user did you use this context?

that makes the tdb backened for you, the first time it gives error that tdb not found or something like that, it then creates one, that is normal.

i suspect you forgot the '-a' in the above.
