External USB device

I have just gotten a Sound Blaster Live 24 Bit External sound card that hooks up through the usb and I was wondering if anyone has gotten these to work? I have tried the modprobe for the usb audio and for the emuk101 and neither worked, any ideas?

While working on it I recalled that I had my onboard sound enabled in my BIOS. So I edited the startup file to not load the module for my onboard sound and I made sure that it would load the module "audio" for the USB audio device. Then I restarted, got into my BIOS, turned off the onboard sound and booted into slack, and I could not ask for better results. Everything is running fine, and the sound card really sounds great.
