Exact Audio Copy, wine, and Slackware64

trying to use the latest version of wine, along with Slackware64 and kernel 4.4.131 to get Exact Audio Copy running under Linux, but for some reason or another I can't get it to start with the error message

my limited research turned up that I may need to have IDE SCSI emulation enabled in the kernel, but those posts are dated with kernel 2.6 in mind and from the looks of it IDE SCSI emulation was even deprecated at that time. any suggestions?

Do you absolutely need EAC, or will something like this do?

Make sure you configure the drives properly, else EAC won't be able to see them. My configuration is :

Drive D: set to /mnt/dvd0, E: set to /mnt/dvd1 in winecfg.
/mnt/dvd0 and /mnt/dvd1 are present in /etc/fstab and point to /dev/sr0 and sr1, respectively. They don't need to be mounted while running EAC, and it's not possible to mount Audio CDs anyway.
The user running Wine must have read/write access to the drive's raw block device. On Debian, it's enough to add the user to the cdrom group.

It would be odd if EAC is not working, using recent WINE. I've used it for years.
All I've ever done, is install WINE accordingly, install EAC
Once that been sorted, run winecfg
Press autodetect under drive settings

Once done, of course setup EAC correctly (read offset etc etc)

Bit slow, but I just installed multilib, wine and EAC
First time I have ever had to manually set path to CD-ROM/DVD in winecfg

winecfg -> Drives -> Autodetect
No CD/DVD device found
Manually added it...
Add (button) and picked E for drive-letter
Show advanced -> Type = CD-ROM -> Path = /media/cdrom
Hit Apply

Once done, inserted an Audio CD, started EAC, followed the guide. CD-/DVD-ROM found ok etc

All that remains for me now is to set EAC up with proper settings for accurate rips...
But that is another story...

might go this route if there's no other way... prefer to stick with EAC since I have all my different configurations saved there.

I believe my issue my be because of my custom kernel? I've tried configuring the drive via winecfg, but still no go and the error message of no host adapters sounds more like something missing that allows wine to see the drive. other than that I'm not sure what could be wrong!

MDKDIO, are you running a custom kernel or stock?

I am not sure if these are related, but I had trouble with makemkv finding my optical drive. I was able to fix it by loading the "sg" module. Maybe worth a try. Also, its not free, but dbpoweramp works flawlessly under wine. It's what I use and find it superior to EAC, however like I said, it is not free.
