ethernet problems with a dell 5160
anybody with a dell 5100 series laptop encouter any problems getting slackware to recognize their ethernet card? i just recently installed slackware, ran x and opened up a browser, coudln't connect to the internet, so i figured slackware probably doesn't recognize my ethernert card. anybody know where i can go from here?
oh, the ethernet card is a Broadcom 440x 10/100... |
Output of
lsmod and ifconfig please? Cheers, Tink |
From my experience, Broadcom and Linux don't get along real well. With that being said, I know that people have gotten the card going by using ndiswrapper (linux way of using windows drivers). Do a google search on ndiswrapper and you will find quite a bit of info.
I have the built-in broadcom wireless, that I've yet to get working.... (i ended up buying a cheap belkin wireless card that did the trick) |
problem fixed. downloaded the drivers off of belcom's website and followed the instructsinof rom there.
worked like a charm! :D |
