Ethernet and DSL problem

i just fresh installed slackware 9.Im using a realtek 8139 nic and it seems that during bootup the kernel is trying to use the 8139cp(though it cant be loaded coz it says device not found) module when the correct module for it is 8139too.i loaded the 8139too module manually by configuring rc.modules file but its annoying that the error message for the 8139cp module keeps showing up everytime i boot up.is it possible that it's compiled into the kernel?how do i remove it?

one more thing..i configured my adsl using adsl-setup and everything seems to be fine.i can connect using adsl-start and ifconfig shows that ppp0 is up.the problem is i cant open any web pages using any browser.i tried pinging several websites and didnt get any replies.im using the same configuration as my windows box for the dns,ip,gateway and netmask.any ideas?

thanks.

Took a look at /etc/rc.d/rc.modules recently? If it's compiled in the kernel then the obvious answer would be to reconfigure and recompile your kernel... however, I highly doubt this is the case.

I believe your /etc/resolv.conf is a good place to start checking. And since you're from Malaysia as well, I assume you're using Streamyx... it's using DHCP, so I don't think you should be setting IP, gateway and netmask.
