eth interfaces drop after a while

I just upgraded from 10.0 to 10.2, and I have two eth cards in my computer. I want to get this running as a router so I can do some firewalling/Tc'ing, as well as having something to log into and play with from work. However, I'm having some trouble. After a while, the interface drops, and I can't log in. If I'm at the console, I can ifconfig eth0 up and it's working fine again. The cards don't seem to drop after a specific time interval, but more like after some amount of data has crossed. I can start the connection before I leave for work, and log in at any time, but once I log in, it's about 15-20 minutes before it drops. Both cards are tulip, but I don't have specific information on the hardware since I'm at work right now. I do remember that I had some trouble getting the IRQs for the cards to play nice, but no problems with that now. If anyone has any general info that might help I'd appreciate it. I'll post some more detailed info as soon as I get a chance.

What specific error messages are you getting (if any)? I once had problems with Intel 10/100 NICs, similar to what you described. My problems were rectified by using the e100 driver instead of the eepro100 driver.

I don't get any error message to the console, if that's what you mean. I don't know about the syslog, I'd have to look. what usually happens (if I'm logged in locally) is I'll try to do some browsing, whatever, and it'll either just hang forever, or give me a "no route to host." I check my ifconfig, and lo is the only one up.
