Eterm problems

I'm trying to load eterm on start of X at the buttom of my desktop so some log files of my apache server will be embedded into my desktop and will auto load the new log entries for me to see. I added this command below into .xinitrc

Eterm -x -O --trans --buttonbar 9 --scrollbar false -g 169x20+0+525 -e tail -f /var/log/apache/access_log

When I load x it starts up then closes.. It seems the process loaded then ended.. Any ideas? I tried a nohup, don't ask why. Was bored and nothing else seemed to work.
