if you installed an eterm.tgz file (slackpkg file...) you can remove it by opening a terminal, su to root and type:

removepkg eterm

i don't think it's eterm messing it up, but it might be libast or imlib2, if you installed those as well, as eterm needs them to operate. so you might try uninstalling those as well?
