Exclamation Errors compiling kernel & tweaking

Hi, I just returned to slack after failing to get system encryption on gentoo. Now, after I have tweaked and tinkered my system all day, I can't compile my kernel. I get following:
Code:
root@Shodan:/usr/src/linux# make menuconfig
  HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep
In file included from /usr/include/bits/posix1_lim.h:153,
                 from /usr/include/limits.h:144,

I have "fresh" source of 2.6.17.8. This first appeared when I tried to patch my kernel with Beyond sources. Any idea what to do to get this fixed?
I was able to compile my kernels earlier today. The patches should affect only the source where they are applied, right? So they shouldn't be causing this. I tried "make clean" but that didn't help.
A note too that I am using Slackware -current, just upgraded this morning. Only problem was that I forgot to recompile my kernel after it so I had to boot from liveCD to do that

Another thing, I tweaked my system according these pages:
http://humanreadable.nfshost.com/sdeg and
http://www.vcn.bc.ca/~dugan/setting-up-slackware.html.

I couldn't get the unicode to work as was intended in the latter guide so I'm asking, are those bash_profile and bashrc things necessary to use unicode?

PS.Lesson 1 on finnish language: "Tiedostoa tai hakemistoa ei ole" == File or folder not found"

Hi, try copying your .config somewhere safe, then run "make mrproper".
If that fails, you may have a problem with your kernel headers ("file not found" in /usr/include), make sure to use the original 2.4 kernel headers if they are missing.

Okay, I installed the kernel-headers for 2.6.17.8 and it seemed to work... and I always thought kernel source was all I needed.
