Error in running proftpd

Hi! Whenever I try to run proftpd i get the error:

- IPv6 getaddrinfo 'hobbes.malandaynet' error: Name or service not known

I think I have to disable ipv6 but I don't know how in Slackware 11.

Anyone knows how to fix this? TIA

Hi,

You're still seeing the error because (likely) the host hobbes.malandaynet isn't in /etc/hosts

I see it on my /etc/hosts file:

Code:
# For loopbacking.
127.0.0.1               localhost
127.0.0.1               hobbes.malandaynet hobbes

They need to be on the same line, like:
Code:
127.0.0.1               localhost hobbes.malandaynet hobbes

Since you're using also ipv6, then add a line in /etc/hosts like this:
Code:
::1             localhost hobbes.malandaynet hobbes
