Enlightenment - anyone got it working?

Hi all,

I'm trying to use Enlightenment 17, with slackware current. Ive tried various options (CVS, linuxpackages.net .tgz's & source from enlightenment.freedesktops.org) with the same result - nothing.

Anyone had any success? If so, could you please point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Andy

yes..I compiled from CVS...and it is pretty......incomplete...

Still lot of work to be done but it looks fancy..

Bad thing is they use binary config files, everything

I built E17 from CVS, following instructions on this page to get the components:

http://www.enlightenment.org/Enlight...ghtenment.html

See the section headed "CVS Development Sources."

To do the build, I followed these instructions, paying special attention to the build order:

http://enlightenment.org/Enlightenme...ild_Notes.html

All went fine for me.

Thanks, glad it's not just me having problems....

I downloaded all the CVS, tried a ./autogen.sh and it came up with errors. The furthest I got was http://enlightenment.freedesktop.org/ sources. All went well ./configure, make ,make install untill 'enlightenment' - complained about edje.

I'll try it on a clean install this weekend, I'll d/l the CVS again, and start from scratch.

I think it will be worth the time, I want to see 'wobbly windows' !

Ta,

Andy

I also managed to install E17 few days back but I only installed edje, eet, embryo, evas, ecore & enlightenment. I did only minimal install just to check out look and feel. I am able to start enlightenment but there's no way (at least, i don't see it) i can add more apps to the icon bar or to the menu. I am not sure how to do it. I presume i have to install more libs...can anyone point out which ones?

Any hints are well appreciated...

Thank you,
Tux,

I think this will help http://get-e.org/User_Guide/English/pages/3.3.html

The main document of the guide is: http://get-e.org/User_Guide/English/index.html
I think newcomers to E will like this.

Oh, and you've a Enlightenment forum here: http://edevelop.org/forum/
