Enabling Composite Extensions?

I was wondering I kind of want to enable composite extensions for some of my apps (namely kxdocker)so I can use real tranparency, but my question is, will it slow down my games like quake 4 and Doom 3?

Thanks

Hello :-)
It depends on the graphics card you're using. also the driver for that card is a factor. with the new nvidia driver enabling composite doesn't affect the performance of games or opengl screensavers. if you have an nvidia card please remember to follow the instructions in /usr/doc/nvidia... for enabling xcomposite under opengl.
