Emerde, Portage For Slackware
Has anyone used Emerde (freaknet.org/alpt/Emerde)?
No. But thanks for tip :D
I really am curious about this... It is a port of Gentoo's emerge for Slackware 9.1 / current. I haven't tried it, mostly do to bandwidth limitations here... but I am curious... like where is the Emerde getting its packages/software etc???? Is it grabbing the software from the Gentoo software repository and then compiling locally?
doesnt swaret do essentially the same thing?
No.. swaret installs precompiled packages from Slackware mirrors. Emerde should download and compile the software you want (and the dependencies).. but I didn't used it (or portage), just wanted some feedback.
Very unfortunate name though., emerde: it means 'oh shit' in french (et merde!)...
lol maybe its that on purpose. like oh shit, they ported emerge?
Or "Oh shit, why is it installing all this crap I don't want!" :)
I made this thread so I could have construtive feedback, no nonsense posts.
Thanks. |
No sense of humor DarkSpy?
Surely, those comments don't hurt... And if someone had any feedback to give you, i am sure our 3 posts won't prevent him for doing so! Chill out... |
I prefer you say Emerde sucks when you really try it, and then think its shit (if that's the case).
I've been posting my progress on linuxiso.org forum, working pretty good right now, still testing. I'm on a test machine so who cares if I break it right?

I'v tried it.. it's buggy, but some apps work "emerde"
I'll just wait for swaret to get repositories. |
try slapt-get
i think they are working wit linuxpackages.net |
Slapt-get is just like apt-get/swaret.. that's that's not the same has portagewhich compiles all packages from source.
