Click on PCI access mode option if it is not enabled, that should be fine for dependency probs
with e1000 driver. If compile fails again, post a screenshot of your kernel compile errors.
there were no errors, it just sceems that the driver is missing when running it. :S any idea on how i can make it a module instead (i think that might solve the problem)
Try to click twice on the corresponding checkbox so it checked with a 'm' or a '.' depending the
config (xconfig, gconfig, menuconfig) but make sure this is not a '*' or a ','
i use gconfig, and it shows a 'Y', i didnt you 'm', coz i couldnt get the e1000 module, or is it included in the kernel? if so, i think there is a command to compile intird right?
well, so i think u mean the ethernet has to be a module rather than built in. but if i'm not mistaken, i have to run a command to activate intird( tell it which modules to load).
No, you don't have to set up an initrd for ethernet module, the initrd is needed in case of
you enable your root partition filesystem as module or other modules required to boot the
kernel.
The ethernet module will be loaded with hotplug or with a modprobe entry in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules
thx alot, i got my internet up and running! and as for my tv tuner, it never worked in linux in the first place, so i didnt inculde support for it, and so i probably wont work.
