Ok I finally got my dvd burner working but its burning extremely slow. The drive is a Samsung SH-S202N 20x DVD±RW DL IDE Drive w/LightScribe. I currently only get about 4.10x speed isntead of 20x. The media I am using is 16x so I should atleast be able to get that fast of speed. I do not think it is a DMA issue since DMA appears to be on:
Code:
[root@Venus comhack]# hdparm -i /dev/hdc
/dev/hdc:
Model=TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S202J, FwRev=SB01, SerialNo=
Config={ Fixed Removeable DTR<=5Mbs DTR>10Mbs nonMagnetic }
RawCHS=0/0/0, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=0
BuffType=unknown, BuffSize=0kB, MaxMultSect=0
(maybe): CurCHS=0/0/0, CurSects=0, LBA=yes, LBAsects=0
IORDY=yes, tPIO={min:383,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120}
PIO modes: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4
DMA modes: mdma0 mdma1 mdma2
UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 udma2 udma3 *udma4
AdvancedPM=no
Drive conforms to: unknown: ATA/ATAPI-3,4,5,6,7
* signifies the current active mode
But I see this error:
Code:
root@Venus comhack]# hdparm /dev/hdc
/dev/hdc:
IO_support = 1 (32-bit)
unmaskirq = 1 (on)
using_dma = 1 (on)
keepsettings = 0 (off)
readonly = 0 (off)
readahead = 256 (on)
HDIO_GETGEO failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device
K3b show that the burning starts at 16x but it only burns at 4x, so its recognized correctly. My dvd writer is IDE and my hard drive is SATA if that makes a difference. Any ideals?>
Thanks
