DVD authoring and other tools
All 3 of my cdrw drives finally bit the big one, and have gone to 'the great windows in the sky'.
Since I still needed burning capabilities, I bought a dvd+-rw drive, that has the cd stuff also builtin. cd burning works great with k3b, and I was wondering if there are any DVD specific apps like k3b?
I'm running -current (just updated yesterday), and NO GNOME.
Any suggestions?

Well K3b also burns DVDs in either iso or data same as cdrom. There are other ways though. Look here near the bottom: http://yolinux.com/TUTORIALS/LinuxTutorialCDBurn.html
Thanks

REAL good cd/dvd tutorial.
But I'm looking for personal experiences, with different progs. While k3b does work, I was just wondering what else was out there.
BTW, cli, while usable, is a bit too much while trying to author a dvd.

If it's for video DVDs, do give Tovid a look (IMO by far the best of its kind) :

For just burning:
As securitybreach mentionned K3B handles DVDs as easy as CDs, just install dvd+rw-tools (other GUI apps just work the same since they're all just fronts for the same software).

How about this:-
http://www.dvdshrink.org. You will need wine though.

I really don't know what you are looking for in the way of experience.
AFAIK all gui burning aps rely on the cli tools.
I use k3b sometimes for burning cd's and dvd's, sometimes not.
I use qdvdauthor for putting together a dvd with menues but use cli with a generic dvd.xml file for a plain old dvd with maybe some chapter breaks.
qdvdauthor will go the whole way and create a dvd file structure and burn to dvd but I usually have it stop so I can check out that everything is ok by test running the dvd with xine and then I use cli to burn it.
All the same tools whether gui (frontend) or cli.

Looks like I already have dvd+rw-tools installed....
And why use wine to burn dvds? IMHO, wine would just add more complexity to an already memory and proc intensive process....

Here's a native tool, XDVDShrink:
http://dvdshrink.sourceforge.net/index.html
I also use lxdvdrip:
