I'm having a problem with my slackware 11.0, i have instaled slack on my hp dv8373ea laptop, every thing runs well at the boot execpt the 2.6 modules are not found. So i have installed the slack pack, and reboot after this wen the computer boot's up and he starts the pcmcia services the screen goes black, and it stops ther. I have booted with de cd and read the dmsg log and it confirms stops in the pcmcia services, so i have removed the pcmciautils package and the system boots up fine but without the pcmcia, i have recompiled the kernel and reisntaled the pcmciautils, and same happends with pcmcia-cs same thing .. i have a yeeta socket based pcmcia slot on my laptop, i would like to ask if any one had this problem and how do i get this working, this is the only thing i cant get it working sinces i have tryed slack...
please help
thanks in advanced
and sorry the bad ing.
I think you need to pass this parameters to your bootloader:
noapic
nolapic
noirq
I had similar problem with the my girlfriend's dv9024ea installing kubuntu.
Hope it's helpfull
You can try to change the /etc/rc.d/rc.pcmcia script to load directly the yenta socket without any probing:
Code:
# Source PCMCIA configuration, if available
if [ -f /etc/pcmcia.conf ] ; then
. /etc/pcmcia.conf
elif [ -f /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia ] ; then
. /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia
if [ "$PCMCIA" != "yes" ] ; then exit 0 ; fi
else
# Should be either i82365, i82092, tcic, or yenta_socket.
# Can also be set to "probe" (a Slackware addition) which loads
# each module until one of them works. (this is the default)
comment the automatic probing
Code:
# PCIC=probe
and uncomment the direct selection of yenta socket:
Code:
PCIC=yenta_socket
this assumes that there is no /etc/pcmcia.conf and /etc/sysconf/pcmcia files in your system (I don't have them).
i think i have found the source of the problem, i have turned off the udev /hotplug from the boot process and now i can have boot and load the pcmcia module i have tryed to use the pccard... status with a card in it and it seems to work now... perhaps the source of the problem is the udev/hotplug in the fist place...
status
kernel 2.6.19
working allmost full the only thing that is missing is the klaptop to activate the hybernation the standby and all that things.
thanks for the suport.
the alterations in the rc.pcmcia turned out useful . thanks
now i just nead the klaptop and the hybernation and sutf avaleable in the kde logout menu.
