dual set of flash drives

It has been a while since my last install.
Am wondering if it is possible to create Slack on a flash drive and partitioning it so that/tmp, /home, /opt, /var, /mnt, and /media are on a separate drive from /. The purpose being that I can have a flash drive with them on it that contain my private files and to off load the wear and also so I can take a separate drive with those on it but virtually empty, when instructing.
You may presume everything else is under /.

I don't think its a good idea to have /var and / on a different media. Also, you could have /tmp in RAM.

Other than that I'd just take care of naming the partitions by UUID or LABEL in /etc/fstab and /etc/lilo.conf)

And of course make sure that the machine can USB boot and you provide the support for the USB device hosting / (including its file system).
