dual booting, but using lilo on ttyS0?

Well, I did away with the console and use the computer with just a remote terminal now.

I'm thinking I might configure a dual boot with another operating system (maybe another slackware system), but how do I operate LILO from a remote terminal?

You can't, unless the BIOS supports a remote terminal, which is very unlikely.

No. Grub can boot over a network but you cannot use it interactively remotely. At this stage of the boot process, you are still using the BIOS, and no PC BIOS that I know of can be used remotely.
