Dual-Boot Working-ish
Hi,
I've had this problem before but not always. I have Windows 2000 installed on my laptop and it's dual-booting with slack 10.0 right now. It's working-ish, except that it hangs when booting windows 2000 whenever linux was last used. So after having used linux Windows will not boot, but after I turn off the laptop and turn it back on again it will boot just fine. I was hoping someone had this problem before and knows how to fix it. It's probably something with the way Linux shuts down, but that's just a guess. Any help would be appreciated. |
Hi,
I had the same problem on an old Dell laptop. Never did find a workaround. It doens't seem to be dangerous. You might try using GRUB instead of LILO, donno--just a guess. -- Taj |
I agree with tmorton...I also had that problem a while back and when i upgraded to Grub everything seemed to work better

I don't have you hardware, and you didn't say where it hangs, so:
- try disabling "PnP OS" in bios. - make sure COM ports are not AUTO, but have IRQ's etc hand assigned. |
By the way, I've noticed that other distros do not cause this problem. Mandrake didn't have this problem (which also uses LILO). RH didn't have a problem, RH uses GRUB.
