How in Slackware 12.1 with KDE 3.5.9 using that KNemo tool connecting with a standard DSL modem, do I renew the DHCP IP address to be able to reconnect online when I had shutoff the dsl modem or not had it on during the boot up process? And yes all 4 lites are on with my Westell DSL modem from Verizon. I did check the options for use with; "ifconfig" command, but there is no renew, or restart listed, (like ipconfig /renew in XP) I did find a thread post about; "dhclient eth0" to renew the IP address, or just re-start the DHCP client service manually ? What way works best ?
So then do I enter; "dhcpcd eth0" in a konsole terminal as root user just after I turn on my DSL modem, or wait for 3-4 lites to be on first? And thanks for the help. My idea is to kill the DHCP client process, (dhcpcd) and then re-start that service when I turn on the DSL modem.
