Dropline installed with few issues

Plundged into dropline last night with few issues...
dropline-installer did a very good job of installing dropline without breaking anything.
My custom theme was retained.
Custom setting, nautilus scripts, other installed programs and locations retained. Did loss a few icons (my fault, wrong location)
Got the usual startup keyboard error had to ed the xorg config file.
Gkrellm fonts ok, some people complain they are "ugly". They are a bit larger than when under gnome.

I like the additional utilities.
Nautilus network browsing finely works.
Nautilus's sleek display is superior.
I have been wanting evo and had not luck compling to gnome 2.4 before. works well and is fast.
Speaking of fast dropline is a bit faster than gnome.

I don't like the following...
Nautilus's lack of widgets in the home directory. I believe you can pass a startup extention to solve that.
Lack of devices in the mouse right click menu... They are now in the Computer folder. My usbhd does not show here.
GAMES!! fracing GAMES.. GAMES are for Xboxes, gameing consoles and Windors. I hate games on a computer especially MY computer.... What a waste of disk space...
My window title bar fonts are a bit fuzzy and will need to be attended too..
Everything wants to open multiple windows instead of using the current window... There must be a fix to that also...
I have not checked my custom ttfonts yet. They where in a sep directory from other they may have survived. If not they will need to be added.
Running processes have skyrocketed up from 52 to 77 with dropline but memory use is about the same.

All-in-all drop is good. I have fixed they small issues and will tweak in the rest as the use passes. It was worth it..

This has to do with the new spatial design of Nautilus. There has been a lot of discussion about this. If you want a long but detailed explanation of spatial design you can read it here:

http://arstechnica.com/paedia/f/finder/finder-1.html

Do a google search on spatial nautilus and you can come across many opinions on the subject.

Sometimes, I use the new nautilus design, but most of the time, I use the launcher that starts nautilus with the command:
Code:
nautilus --no-desktop --browser
There's some hack to make it work like that all the time, but just making a new launcher works for me. Now, I can use Nautilus either the old way or the new way.

You can also do it through gconf. Open Applications>>System Tools>>Configuration Editor. Now navigate to the directory /apps/nautilus/preferences and in the right hand window check the box labeled always_use_browser. Underneath the windows you get a nice little description of what id does.

Yes I am aware of the spatial thingy which is more or less like windors "remember folder setting" and using "open new window".
I am refering to other programs i.e. evo to mozilla and such..
Seems many a programs prefer to open new windows instead of using the current window.

I give a big plus to Xorg.. My SlackBox here has a Cirrus Logic Laguna 5465 on-board video.
Xfree did not seem to work well with this card. I would get flickers during x startup and many times the mode would drop to the 800 range. So I had been running the vesa framebuffer which does a really good job of driving the card in all ranges but stuck in 60 hz.
This morning I hacked into xorg.conf another device section for the card and to my pleasure I have a very full range of vid modes. The 85 hz setting also got rid of the fuzzy font issue.
Not bad, not bad indeed..
