Some mono stuff is proposed x86_64 which needs to be marked as obsolete. Thanks for the heads up gmgf, some other packs too probably as I have not finished yet the index file and my time is scarse, but yes i know i'm poluting your install. Sorry for that. Hope to fix that in this week.

A quick solution is to grep the index file for x86_64 and manually uninstall those packages.

gmgf 06-18-2013 08:42 AM

No, problem, saxa.

saxa 06-18-2013 09:29 AM

I would like to see some more people step in with us for maintaining various areas of the desktop. Thanks for your cooperation gmgf.

gmgf 06-18-2013 11:19 AM

I understand you, but gnome3 disappointed alot of users.

saxa 06-18-2013 11:57 AM

I understand that, but the intention of the project is to deliver a good gnome experience to the Slackware user. I personally was also against or in some way not favorable for gnome 3 at the beginning. But I have to say that today after we got gnome 3.6 out I like it more and more. It really is a new experience if you are used to the old desktop paradigm. But I have never be a person who don't want to change. I like to experience new things, so every time there is a change we need to adopt a bit, and this is what scares a lot of persons.

Anyway I like how 3.8 is coming along and I use it everyday for my business.

PS: The phrase of "I'd like to see more people step in" is mainly because of development and keep things up to date, fix them and so on.Of course you can do that when this is something you like and use. But only by more people using it we will be able to change what is not going well or what we do not like.

I use Dropline Gnome 3.6.3 to my desktop computers on Slackware 14.0 32-bit and I'm very happy.:hattip:
I expect Gnome 3.8. :)

saxa 06-18-2013 03:09 PM

Broker824, puno ti hvala !! 3.8 should be ready very soon if everything goes well. Thanks to Bart we got fixed the xorg-server bug which was a big show stopper. Right now the i686 works as a Desktop but we need to fix few more things and include this xorg-server package we rebuilt.

Broker824 06-19-2013 12:17 AM

Nema na čemu! You're welcome! :)
I hope for Gnome 3.8 be well done.

One question, which Xorg server version be to Gnome 3.8.

bartgymnast 06-19-2013 01:19 AM

1.12.4, the version from slackware 14.0

saxa 06-19-2013 05:35 AM

Broker, yep, the xorg-server will be the same as Slackware ships but with an additional fix which prevents crashes of various gnome applications. If you want a well done 3.8 the best way to achieve that goal is to report problems you have.

Broker824 06-20-2013 03:19 AM

Okay, thanks for tip.

Bazzaah 06-21-2013 04:20 AM

I'll give this a go and let you have some feedback soon - I quite liked Gnome 3 when I tried it on Arch a while back.

Hi, I have a problem with the installer, if I search for updates it shows that packages are available for updates but it actually doesn't upgrade/install them.

The packages are:
  • gnome-panel
  • gnome-applets
  • gnome-games
  • gnome-games-extra-data
  • gnome-screensaver
  • metacity
  • gcalctool

The packages are downloades by the installer when I select the download only option, but If I install them manually and re-run the installer they are removed from my system.
The installer version is 3.8_r4490-x86_64-1dl.

gmgf 06-23-2013 07:16 AM

gnome-panel
gnome-applets
gnome-screensaver
metacity

these are obsolet, not needed in gnome-3.8

and probably other also.
