downloadingweb really slow in slack12 on adsl

I have just upgraded to slack12 and a new mobo. My connection to the net is really slow on my adsl conection. My average download speed is 7kps. I managed to download the lastest kernel and have recompiled it , to include the new mobo. And have run netconfig again, so it was the same as with slack 10.2, with no luck.

Here is my ifconfig, if it helps??

bash-3.1# ifconfig

what else can I try to fix this.

Could you give a little more info?
For starters, what network interface card do you have? (lspci) What driver is being used? (lsmod).

You could also try a live distro, (eg knoppix) which has very good hardware detection, to help see if the problem is related to your mobo or to Slackware. Also try googling for 'linux' together with your mobo version to see if others are having problems. In my experience, someone else has always had the problem before me!

One other thing that I do but may not have any bearing on your problem at all, is disable ipv6 in the kernel. I guess one day you will need it, but I have never missed it so far...

I have a ASUS P5W DH Delux mobo with a onboard Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller. I did some googling and it seems that there is a problem with the drivers for the 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller that I have on my mobo. So I guess I have to wait for a new kernal or patch to come out.

Hi,

Which kernel are you using?

The sky2 module is part of the '2.6.21.5-smp' kernel modules '
/lib/modules/2.6.21.5-smp/kernel/drivers/net/sky2.ko'. Have you tried it?

Please post the output of;
Code:
~#uname -r
~#dmesg |grep eth
~#lspci -vv
~#lsmod
I did some simple searches and did find some problems but you should see what can be done at this point with your system. We could walk through this problem and probably get it solved.

I am using 2.6.22.1. So I have tried/using the sky2 module, however I get the hard lock ups that have been reported with this module.
However I would love any help to try to get my system to work. My outputs are:
Code:
bash-3.1$ uname -r

bash-3.1$ dmesg | grep eth
