dosemu

Greeting all. I am looking for a slackware 11 package for dosemu. None at http://www.linuxpackages.net and attempts to compile the source have failed.

Thanks in advance.

Could you give some of the error messages while compiling? It could help in diagnosing the issue you're having.

And at what step did the compilation fail (at configure or make)?

Just get the newest dosemu package from linux packages, I have packages from 10.2 on my 11.0 system, there usually isn't any problem.

if by "linux packages" you mean http://www.linuxpackages.net, then that has no dosemu package. It didn't yesterday when I posted this topic and it still doesn't have it now. Is there a second "linux packages" site that google and I don't know about?

I just downloaded dosemu 1.3.3 and ran ./configure then make. It seems to have compiled on my -current system, so I am wondering what specific compile errors you are having. If we can solve those, we might be able to get you up and running with dosemu in short order.

Okay, I see what you mean. I tried to install it, but it doesn't work. Not clear to me yet why...

Seems to be a problem with bdftopcf, whatever that is. Checkinstall also has problems with an unidentified file not being available. Could be bdftopcf, but I'm not certain.

I hate to rain on your parade, put dos in the search box, select any for version and hit return.

You get nine hits, two of which are dosemu and four are dosbox, which is just as good.

Hope that this helps.

This is the one that I'm using on my Slack 11 box with no problems. The only change I made was using the DOS from a copy of Win98. For whatever reason, the version of FreeDOS that comes with that package doesn't like one program I have to use.

I searched under "dos" and got ONE hit (not nine). That hit was for dosBOX, not dosEMU.

The pertinent phrase is "select any for version".

I can assure you there are nine hits.

As a suggestion, if you you feel that you have to SHOUT to make a point, I suggest you make sure that the point is valid before making it. After all we are only trying to help you solve a problem.
