Bitcoins can indeed go to that address, just like donations used to be able to go to the store.
IT'S NOT ME. Folks, I'm still reading this long and remarkable thread and will try to comment on it about more than this, but needed to head this one off at the pass. As I commented there, I wasn't really ready to post yet when I did (wanted to set up a Patreon or something first), but really couldn't let the store just keep on collecting donations when I had little faith that I'd ever see any of them. Of course, NOW the store says they'll be sending me the collected funds, but I'll believe that when I see it.
"Sometimes people should be offered a second chance. Let us know if the store owners reconcile with you. Many Slackers are interested in Slackware merchandise. If the store owners do not reconcile then consider keeping the door open to other ways of selling merchandise."
If the store owners reconcile to Pat's satisfaction then I am guessing he will post and update everybody.
--- Edit:
As another idea: Why not do some crowdfunding for the 15.0 release? If one of the perks was a golden DVD signed by Pat then I'd definitely fund for one of those!
That is so cool, I would love a signed DVD, if Pat had the time to do it (I know!). I'm in the UK but I would pay, I don't know, $30 + postage for one. I'm pretty sure signing them would be all he could do, someone else would have to do all the burning/money collecting/packaging/posting. And there's the rub I guess.
Personally I would never use PayPal after they unlawfully stole money from my account! I'd like to support Pat but I think Patreon or similar is a far less contentious way, with many knowing how badly PayPal operate.
I still think the best solution for Slackware is crowdfunding for each release. Ideas for perks include:
Signed install DVDs
Early access to the release
Text file listing names of backers
15.0 T-shirts/other merch
Ticket for launch party
Meet & greet with core team
10 minute Skype with founder
Some good ideas, not sure about the party/meet&greet/skype options though. I've got the impression over many years as a Slackware user that that sort of thing wouldn't sit too easily with Pat, Eric etc, I could be wrong but I don't think I am.
I'm sure nobody would ever have minded if PV released the next Slackware a couple of hours later because he took that time somewhere during the 2 - 3 yr period between releases to create an online account somewhere and put a donations link on the website.
I will be happy to do a monthly Patreon, Liberapay (or whatever the solution will be) contribution when the possibility is there.

I'm glad to see that Patrick has confirmed the PayPal link. I want to donate, but I don't trust links (or that people on the net are who they say they are).
At any given juncture (including now) I've had numerous opportunities that would support me and my family far better and would provide us with the things that we need rather desperately.
I was re-reading that post and realized I hadn't seen anyone address this point, specifically.
Patrick, do what you need to do, but I for one would mourn the day you had to take a regular job and devolve maintaining Slackware to an off-hours hobby.
I am willing to back that up with regular donations, for which I ask/expect nothing -- they are not contingent on you working on Slackware full time or you putting release DVDs in the mail or anything else.
Hopefully enough people will do likewise that you can get back out of the red, and not just return to the status quo (which might be sufficient to sustain you, but not enough to make up for what you have lost). But only you know what's right for you.
Thanks for providing me with my everyday-use operating system since 1996.
I believe only the donate link was removed from the store page. Pat threatened to remove the DNS entries for store.slackware.com if they didn't remove the donate link.

Perhaps, the entire link to the store should be removed as well.
Perhaps, the entire link to the store should be removed as well.
I don't think it was his intention to do that just yet. Maybe it's due to legal agreements or maybe he's hoping things with the store can change and he doesn't want to burn any bridges.
In his initial post on this thread, he stated he threatened to basically remove access to the store (by removing the DNS entry) if they didn't remove the donate link, so maybe he's hoping to keep the store around, but didn't want the donate link left on there if it wasn't going to him.
I want a Slackware coffee mug; more Slackware merch!
Yeah, me too. Glaring omission, no Slackware mugs. Sure wouldn't mind a few baseball hat options too if and when an honest Slackware store is born from the ashes.
