Does upgradepkg keep filepermissions?

Hello all,

I am planning to restrict the use graphical programs (x and the like) to certain groups. But before I go crazy with changing all the groups, won't upgrading to newer releases of the programs using upgradepkg reset the permissions to the stock ones, and take away all my modifications?

Thanks :)

I'm pretty sure than when you run upgradepkg, it'll extract the files that are stored in the package with the permissions that it should be as stock

So that means I'm fairly sure that your permissions won't be retained since the files will be overwritten :(

Looking at upgradepkg's output it removes the one package and replaces it with the other so I dunno.

IME, they do not keep your permissions.
