Does this thing have a GUI(Graphical User Interface)?

Does this thing have a GUI? If so, how do I get to it? I tried to run "metacity", but it said that it couldn't load Window X, or something like that. So far basically all I've done is load slackware. I tried to do the changing the kernel thing, but it couldn't find dir /usr/src/linux.

Did you try running the command 'startx'?

lorengd 09-18-2003 06:47 PM

That appears to be working, thanks for the help. Is there any way to get it to boot to startx automatically?

shellcode 09-18-2003 06:49 PM

in the file /etc/inittab
change the default boot mode from level 3 to level 5

Also, when I boot up, my sound card, modem, and CD Rom device all don't work, is there a way to auto configure these like with MS Windows?

Slack uses run-level 4 as its graphical mode.

Also from the command line you may type:

'xwmconfig' for a ncurses menu to choose your window manager. Or you may just edit '.xinitrc' in your home directory.
