Quite the opposite. Talking with people who share little to nothing with me is extremely boring and totally useless and unproductive. Either way there is no way anyone would have the exact same ideas and opinions as me. If they do, please marry me But no way, it ain't gonna happen.

Hi,

If you only use salt & pepper for seasoning then you will not experience the spices of life. Constructive discussion hurts no one. I appreciate others points when they present them in a intellectual positive manner. If someone posts with poor grammar or abbreviated text then I will point out the poor communication and transfer of information. No one benefits when posts are full of poor language or the lack of a good composition when discussing a subject/topic. When this does occur I will present;

Good open discussion is beneficial to everyone! You do not learn much in life with 'tunnel vision'.
Have fun & enjoy!

Regarding my wanting to efficiently read new posts for a specific thread in the Linux-General forum ...

Those two actions together work well. Thanks guys!

I subscribed to the thread. I'm won't be flooded with email since I've had the subscribed threads email notification set to just once a day. (but ignore the email for this purpose)

By selecting the "Subscribed Threads" link under "My LQ" I get a list of threads automatically sorted and including the "Go to first post" link.

Thanks harryhaller for bringing up the topic. Here's hoping that thread generally works out well. Everyone please remember to be nice to the general LQ members that may post there and don't understand the UNIX nature of Slackware. Hopefully the PV quote and links that onebuck has in post # 1 in that thread will help those unfamiliar with Slackware.
