Does it conflict? OSS and Alsa.(View pic)

http://familyunits.net/screenshot.png

Current: Slackware 9.1, Alsa driver 0.9.6, Kernel 2.4.22, $alsaconf; $alsamixer. Sound card is AD1985 which is intergated into P4P800 Deluxe. Alsaconf works--->Sound card won't work

Past: Upgraded to Alsa 1.0.4 or 0.9.8., keep kernel --->alsaconf responsed errors. Can't detect soundcard.
Past: Upgraded to Kernel 2.6.6. Can't detect network device PCI Linksys and this soundcard. Give up!

Please recommend me the way to get sound. I've had no sound from first using slackware 9.1 (reinstall 3 times)

Yes, I think a conflict is the problem (I had the same problem and solved it). Besides OSS is deprecated in 2.6.x kernel and so shouldn't be used. I also have a P4P800 Deluxe mobo and my sound works fine. You only have to have Alsa sound in your kernel. Recompiling the kernel without OSS will be the solution. You then will have only one sound card.
For the mobo you need another kernel option which has something to do with the sound, but I can't remember this. I'm at work and can't have a look... It has something to do with the ICH5 chipset...
Maybe someone else can help you as well...
