Well ok, I should have said a mix. That's what I voted for.

I don't plan to use any more stuff from -current unless something breaks..

I followed you instructions and I am now running KDE-4.3.3.
Thank you.
Alas, even in 4.4.3 Konqueror is still unusable.

Most of the time Slack64-current.
Every now and then stable (on my wife's notebook)

niels.horn 12-03-2009 02:39 AM

Answered "current", since that is what I use most of the time for daily work.

My server runs stable though, as my wife's machine (she doesn't like surprises), and I have VMs with "clean" -stable 32 & 64 Slackware for testing things.

No vote for 'other' so I didn't vote.

I run 11.0 for 2.4 kernels on antiques, and 11.0 for old laptop that needs rc.pcmcia to work (I can't get pcmcia on 12.1/2 to work, haven't tried 13.0 yet)

12.1 is my main desktop's tho, more software, gnome and works well for old intel's, and radeon r300 cards (with binary blob ati driver for 2.6.27 stable series kernel

Running current on one netbook and one desktop. So far so good.

Moch5.0 12-04-2009 09:49 PM

I'm running Slackware64-current with a 2.6.31.5 kernel and Fluxbox.

So far stable

Always STABLE! I use the comp for productivity!

Richard Cranium 08-25-2014 03:48 PM

I use too many packages out of slackbuilds to get work done to play around with -current.

If there was an itch that I had which -current scratched, it would be a different story.

ReaperX7 08-25-2014 03:49 PM

I use stable on my laptop because I run a few OEM drivers with my system, and use Slackware as a building and chroot host for LFS. My desktop however is now CRUX though.

Necrothreading FTW:)

mrclisdue 08-25-2014 06:07 PM

I run a version of -current everywhere, but it's not necessarily a current -current, depending upon which machine out of a couple of dozen or so. Currently, none of them are *actually* -current. Perhaps if I spent more time keeping current with -current, and less time reading LQ I could attain stability with -current, except stability could be an issue.

I guess I could be considered necro-current.

cheers,

Indeed!! A five year old thread. :)
These days I'm running Stable on three of my machines. I have one box that is a Slackware64-current dual boot with OpenBSD 5.5.

zbreaker 08-25-2014 08:08 PM

-current

-current is the new stable... at least for me. Non mission critical business related install. But still...yet to have a major glitch.
