dnsmasq. syslog and console messages

I continuously get console messages about ppp0 being assigned a new ip number. Presumably this is from my ISP and their dhcp server, since I am on a dialup connection with a non-static ip number. I think these messages would be better in /var/log/messages or somewhere else besides the console. I have looked for a solution, but I just haven't been able to decipher the /etc/syslog.conf syntax. Does anyone know how to tell syslog to post dhcp mesages to /var/log/messages?

Thanks

my dhcpcd info goes to /var/log/debug with the standard syslog.conf
if they come on your screen, i don't think they are recognised as messages to be logged.

can you post some of these messages ?

The messages appear as:

Quote:

Local:xxx.xxx.xxx.x -> Remote:xxx.xxx.xxx.x pp0
The statement does not end with a carriage return, so they are stepwise down the monitor. I haven't actually sat there and watched these messages appear, they are just there when I start to log in. The messages do not appear on my user console when I have a terminal open in X, it seems to be only when I see the base console before logging in.

Thanks
