Both threads are on the exact same issue so lets keep all the info together.

When I load an internet address in a web browser, there is a delay with the DNS server.
The problem occurs in Seamonkey, Konquerer and Firefox 1.5.0.11.
It does not occur under BASH. For example, when using Lynx most internet sites load fast and there is no delay with the DNS server.
The delay is about 9-11 seconds, during which I get the message "Waiting for www.site.com..."
Once I have established a connection there is no further delay. Any page from
www.site.com loads at the normal speed. Any site that is in my DNScache, such as google for example, has also no delay since there is no contact with a DNS server.
I have tried manually forcing my DNS server to those known to be good. No effect.
But again, using command-line browsers in BASH I do not get this ten second DNS delay.
This problem started just after I switched ADSL modems. I am still using the exact same ISP, I only have changed the modem. Other than that nothing is different. I am guessing this is not a coincidence and the problems are related somehow to the new modem.
So where should I look to get help for this problem? I have to admit I do not know too much about how internet is controlled with Linux because I have not had many problems with it until now.
I am not looking for an exact solution (but that would be nice!
) I am looking for some tips on how I can narrow down the problem and figure it out better.
