DNS cache on Slackware 10.2

Hi guys,

Is there a DNS cache on Slackware 10.2?

I can perform a DNS lookup on my Slackware 10.2 box (either by pinging something by name or browsing to a website) perfectly. The IP address comes back from my Bind DNS server and all is well.

If however, if I take the network DNS server off line and perform the same ping / web browsing operation again - it fails (as the DNS server is no longer there).

Does Slackware not have a DNS cache locally? I would have expected it to remember the IP address of the box I pinged (assuming the TTL hasn't expired).

Am I missing something?

No, Slackware has nothing in the way of a DNS cache (unless you set up BIND locally to do that).
