I am very happy that the Slackware Team is focused on *developing* Slackware.
Wasn't taking "pot shots," but now that you bring it up...
With all due respect, Hitest, other than Alien Bob (who seems to be the one carrying the ball), and a few security patches, "they" haven't done swat for almost a year now (11 months on 27 March).

Some people are never satisfied. Plenty more distros out there if you are unhappy with the choices "they" are making!
There wasn't anything sarcastic at all in anything I said above.
What, specifically, are you talking about?

sjampoo already posted a link to the changelog - the definitive source for this particular data. If Distrowatch wants to track versions in -current they too can take it upon themselves to follow that link.

Haven't you learning anything? Define "stable." Updates are so fast and furious I can't even keep up. Have you seen the -current changelog? You can't just toss in kernel 3.2.7 and not test. As for slackware-stable, it is just that stable, and all we need are the relevant security patches and not new features. Run another distro if you want the insanity of rolling releases and daily patches.
All hail our BDFL. Long may he reign (1).

Unless there has been an update to Xfce (or any package) since the last stable release, the changelog will not provide the answer.
The place to look for whatever version of whatever package is included in -current would be the "package.txt" file.
DistroWatch's hit rate must be in the tens of thousands a day to be able to charge for advertising, and those thousands of people are looking for information about Linux. So like DistroWatch or not, one might want to make sure the posted information about their favorite distribution is correct and up to date. N'est-ce pas?

With all due respect, cwizardone, you have informed DistroWatch of the correct information. Any chance that you will mark this thread as solved?

Hello,
Sorry to bother you with this, as I thought it would be up to the Slackware people
to provide the information in the proper format, but I guess not.
On the Slackware page in the row labeled, xfdesktop (4.8.3)
the version of Xfce being used in Slackware-current is, 4.6.2
Just FYi.
Thank you for your time.

Clearly, Distro-watch has the correct version number @ the latest stable slackware version. This is the same version as shipped in -current, unless there's a newer version named in the current changelog. I linked to the changelogs, not just current.
But hey.. maybe it would be best if DistroWatch didn't list -current at all, since than there wouldn't be a rant about a version number?

No.
Well, since you're so *bleeping* fired up about about it, maybe you can assume that duty.
Or point out to whomever is running DistroWatch that they aren't doing a good job of providing accurate information.
