Yea, that was just a typo. I booted it from a different machine and it worked fine, by that I mean I got the startup screen with "boot" prompt. I'm back on the machine I intend to install Slackware onto - right now I'm running liveCD of Funtoo so that's got me thinking it isn't a drive issue. Any ideas?

It could still be a drive issue. After all, you said you're trying to use a Slackware DVD. The Funtoo disc is a CD. If a different system can boot from your Slackware DVD, then it would seem the problem is not with the disc. Perhaps this system has troubles booting form DVDs. Or perhaps it can't read the media you used to burn the DVD. Try booting with a different DVD.

I tweaked the partition table; still not booting but now I just get the blinking cursor after the bios screen.
Partitioning your hard drive should have no effect on how your system boots from a DVD. If changing the partition scheme alters your boot behavior in some way, then that points to your computer not reading the DVD and instead trying to boot from the HDD.

There it is. :) Burned the first two discs to CD's and it booted fine. I'm in the process of installing right now so if all goes well I'll mark this thread done. I think I'll do fine with the first (2) discs; if I'm not mistaken the rest is KDE and some extras and sources. I was thinking of running gnome. Thanks for the help ya slackers!
