Disabling the spacebar in Chrome/Chromium
The spacebar key in Chrome/Chromium seems to act in the same manner as the PGDN key in that it scrolls the screen up. When entering text in a textbox the spacebar acts normally. (This seems to be the default behaviour for firefox too).
The problem seems to come when entering text in a box that can only be displayed if you have flash installed. In that case, Chrome/Chromium does not appear to recognize the spacebar as a text character and treats it as a control character instead. So I get the annoying situation where I am filling in a text box in the flash area and as soon as I hit the spacebar, OOPS! The text has disappeared off the screen! Does anybody know how to stop Chrome/Chromium from treating the spacebar as a control character? |
This is a known issue. There is a workaround in comment 18 of the bug.
