Direct XPI download link for Firefox addons?
 

Hi,

I'm currently busy packaging various addons for Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird. For example, I've packaged a few localization XPI's, so Firefox starts up in the same language as the system locale, for all users.

Now I'd like to package a few nifty addons for system-wide default, like the Adblock Plus addon. I know how to package the XPI once I have it, but the problem I have is: there's no way to have a direct download link for these. Looks like the Mozilla Foundation likes to turn this into a treasure hunt, as usual.

Anyone knows better?

First of all, there are at least a couple of add-ons for syncing or exporting your other add-ons. I found these two:

...although the second one seems to be broken right now, according to the comments.

The FF guys also appear to have developed their own service+extension for add-on "collections":

I've never tried any of these personally.

To download an .xpi from the main FF add-ons site, go down to the release notes and right-click save on the download button there. Those should allow you to save to file rather than install. You can also click through to the previous versions page and save from there.

Extensions not hosted by the Firefox site will have to be figured out individually.
